ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's lacrosse team was dropped by Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Capital University Friday afternoon at Mount Union Stadium, 18-3.
Senior Chris Daley (Wilmington, Del/Dupont) led the Purple Raiders (5-6, 1-4 OAC) with two goals.
Capital (6-5, 3-2 OAC) was led by Brennan O'Callaghan, who scored seven goals in the contest.
The Crusaders got on the board 25 seconds into the first quarter. Mount Union fought back and tied the game at one when Daley scored with 45 second remaining.
Capital's O'Callaghan notched back-to-back goals to take a 3-1 lead over Mount Union. Daley cut Capital's lead to one, 3-2, after finding the back of Capital's goal with just under 10 minutes to play. O'Callaghan struck again to give Capital a 4-2 lead at the break.
Mount Union was outscored 5-1 in the third quarter, with the Raiders' goal being scored by sophomore Grant Elffers (Hudson/Hudson) at the 9:03 mark.
The Raiders were outscored 9-0 in the final quarter, closing the game with a final score of 18-3 in Capital's favor.
Mount Union next travels to New Concord, Ohio on Saturday, April 22 for an OAC match-up against Muskingum at 1 p.m.
