Men's Lacrosse: Raiders Fall at Home to Chatham, 8-7

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union suffered an 8-7 loss to Chatham (Pa.) in a non-conference men's lacrosse game Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.

The Purple Raiders (3-3) held a 6-4 lead late in the third quarter before Chatham (4-1) scored four unanswered goals, the last two man-up goals, to take an 8-6 lead with 8:39 to play. Mount Union got to within a goal, 8-7, on a score from Grant Elffers (Hudson) and missed a man-up chance in the game's final seconds for the tie.

Chatham led 2-1 at the end of the first quarter before Mount Union tied the game on a Hunter Holt (Cranberry Twp, Pa. / Seneca Valley) score and it was 2-2 at the half.

Both teams traded two goals early in the third quarter and then the Raiders scored two straight on tallies from Paul Gill (Centreville, Md. / Queen Anne's County) and Brent Greenberg (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) to go up 6-4 at the 3:31 mark.

Seamus McCartin (Centreville, Md. / Queen Anne's County) had a pair of goals while Greenberg had a goal and three assists to pace the Raiders.

Will Petraglia and Adam Bleess each scored two goals while Kyle Prewitt had what turned out to be the game-winner for Chatham.

Mount Union next hosts Grove City (Pa.) in its final non-conference game of the year Wednesday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
