ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's lacrosse team suffered a 10-2 Ohio Athletic Conference defeat against Ohio Northern Saturday night in Ada, Ohio.
The Purple Raiders drop to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the OAC, while the Polar Bears improve to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
The Raiders were led by freshmen Chris Motter (Hudson) who won 12-14 faceoffs and had a game-high seven groundballs.
Cameron Marous led Northern with one goal and five assists for a game-high six points.
The Bears struck first and led 2-0 less than two minutes into the first quarter. The Raiders quickly answered back as freshmen Jacob Dodd (Ridgley, Md. / North Caroline) scored his first career goal at the 12:59 mark of the first quarter which reduced the deficit to one. Northern went on to score three goals to close out the quarter.
In the second quarter, Mount Union compiled eight shots but failed to score against the Northern defense, resulting in a 6-1 halftime deficit.
The Raiders were outscored 4-1 in the second half with the lone goal coming from senior Brent Greenberg (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) in the loss.
Mount Union next hosts John Carroll in an OAC matchup Wednesday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
