Men's Lacrosse: Kungle Scores Overtime Game Winner in Raiders Home Opener

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Alek Kungle (Hudson) scored in overtime to lift Mount Union to an 11-10 men's lacrosse victory over St. Vincent (Pa.) Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.

Logan Addonizio (Wixom, Mich. / Walled Lake Western) scored four goals while Kungle, Sean O'Loughlin (Hudson) and Matt Bisono (Deer Park, N.Y.) each scored twice, Hunter Holt (Medina) had a goal to finish the scoring while Jake Krone (Hudson) had 10 saves in goal for the Purple Raiders, who are now 1-1 on the season.

Jeremy Kennedy scored four goals in the loss for St. Vincent (0-1).

St. Vincent got two goals in a span of three minutes midway through the first quarter to take a 2-0 lead before Addonizio got his first to make it 2-1.

The Bearcats put two more on the board inbetween a Bisono goal to lead 4-2 with five minutes left in the second quarter. The Raiders then scored three staight finished off by a man-up goal from Kungle to give Mount Union its first lead of the game at 5-4. St. Vincent tied the game at halftime 5-5 as Zach Novelli threw up a ball from 50 yards out that found the goal.

Mount Union retook the lead on a Addonizio goal with 12:40 to play in the third quarter but St. Vincent scored three straight to lead 8-6. Bisono scored with six seconds left in the third quarter to start a 3-0 Raiders scoring run that gave Mount Union a 9-8 lead with 11:16 left in regulation. 

St. Vincent tied the game then took a 10-9 lead with 4:30 left as Danny Tare scored but Holt's first goal of the season came a minute later for Mount Union to tie the game at 10-10 and send it to overtime.

Mount Union next plays Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. at Grove City in Grove City, Pa.
