Men's Lacrosse: Mount Union Beat at Home in Conference Opener

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's lacrosse team lost its Ohio Athletic Conference opener 17-4 to Otterbein Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.

The Purple Raiders are now 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the OAC while Otterbein goes to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Alek Kungle (Hartville / Lake) had two goals to lead Mount Union while Joe Sanfillipo had three goals and an assist to pace the Cardinals.

Kungle got Mount Union on the board first with a score just 3:18 into the contest but Otterbein would tie the game just two minutes later and then score a total of eight unanswered goals to lead 8-1 at the break. Joe Sanfillipo had two goals and an assist for the Cardinals in the half.

Mount Union opened the third quarter with a pair of goals from Kincaid Mrakovich (Poland / Poland Seminary) and Kungle to make it 8-3. Otterbein stopped the Mount Union run with four scores of their own to lead 12-3 after three quarters.

Otterbein out-scored Mount Union 5-1 in the fourth quarter with Raiders goal coming from Sean O'Loughlin (Hudson).

Mount Union stays home to host Ohio Northern in an OAC game next Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
