NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's lacrosse team posted its first Ohio Athletic Conference win of the season with a 13-7 victory at Muskingum Wednedsay in New Concord.
Freshman Logan Addonizio (Wixom, Mich. / Walled Lake Western) scored a game-high five points on three goals and two assists and sophomore Alek Kungle (Hartville / Lake) netted three goals as the Purple Raiders moved their record to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in the OAC.
Josh Fletcher had two goals and an assist to pace Muskingum (4-6, 0-3 OAC).
Addonizio assisted on the only goal of the first quarter as it came off the stick of senior Declan McCartin (Centreville, Md. / Queen Anne's County) for a 1-0 Raider lead.
Mount Union then out-scored the Muskies 6-1 in the second quarter to lead 7-1 at the half. Two of the scores came from Kungle, one from Addonizio, one from McCartin and one each from freshman Christian Casto (Hurricane, W.Va.) and junior Sean O'Loughlin (Hudson).
Casto and Addonizio scored again and junior Matt Bisono (Deer Park, N.Y.) tallied a goal as each team scored three times in the third quarter as Mount Union led 10-4.
Bisono, Addonizio and Kungle all had goals in the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter to build up a 13-4 lead. Muskingum rallied with three goals for the 13-7 final.
Senior Jake Krone (Hudson) had 13 saves in goal for the Raiders.
Mount Union next plays at Marietta in an OAC game Saturday at 1 p.m. in Marietta, Ohio.
