Men's Lacrosse: Mount Union Beat at Home By John Carroll

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's lacrosse team was defeated 14-5 by John Carroll in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Wednesday night at Mount Union Stadium.

Grant Elffers (Hudson) had two goals and an assist as the Purple Raiders are now 4-7 overall and 2-3 in the OAC

Skyler Blake scored four goals to lead John Carroll (6-6, 2-3 OAC).

Blake started the scoring 2:02 into the contest and Mount Union tied it up just over six minutes later on a goal from Declan McCartin (Centerville, Md. / Queen Anne's Cty.). The Raiders then took a 2-1 lead 82 seconds later when Logan Addonizio scored. Blake scored again with 1:01 left in the first quarter to tie the game at 2-2.

John Carroll then scored four unanswered goals in the second quarter to lead 6-2 at the break.

The Streaks kept the run going in the second half with three more scores to lead 9-2 halfway through the third quarter. Elffers then got Mount Union back on the board with a score to make it 9-3 at the 8:13 mark but John Carroll came back with a score just over a minute later to make it 10-3. Both teams traded goals to finish the quarter to make it 11-4 with the Raiders score coming from Alek Kungle (Uniontown / Lake).

John Carroll scored three more time in fourth quarter and Elffers finished the scoring with his second goal in the final minute.

Mount Union is back in action Saturday at 1 p.m. against Heidelberg in Tiffin.
