Men's Lacrosse: Mount Union Drops Final Home Game of the Season

ALLIANCE, Ohio – A rough second quarter helped send the Mount Union men's lacrosse team to a 17-6 loss to Baldwin Wallace in an Ohio Athletic Conference match Wednesday night at Mount Union Stadium.

Six different Purple Raiders scored as the loss takes Mount Union (6-8, 4-4 OAC) out of contention for a spot in next week's OAC Tournament with the loss.

Ben Kubiak had five goals and two assists for Baldwin Wallace (13-2, 7-1 OAC).

BW scored first then Grant Elffers (Hudson) and Logan Addonizio (Wixom, Mich. / Walled Lake Western) each tallied goals to give Mount Union a 2-1 lead with 6:47 to play in the first quarter. BW tied the game 40 seconds later but the Raiders retook the lead 3-2 as Dylan Allen (Centreville, Md. / Queen Anne's Cty.) scored his first collegiate goal. BW tied the game with a score at the 1:28 mark and it was 3-3 at the end of the first quarter.

BW then out-scored Mount Union 6-1 in the second quarter to take a 9-4 lead at the half. Alek Kungle (Hartville / Lake) had the Raiders lone goal in the quarter.

The Jackets kept the pressure on with four more goals in the third quarter to take a 13-4 lead.

The Raiders tried to rally with a pair of goals in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter on scores from Hunter Holt (Cranberry, Pa. / Seneca Valley) and Alex Ellison (Uniontown / Lake) to close the gap to 13-6. BW finished the game with four more goals for the 17-6 final.
