Men's Lacrosse: Raiders End Season With Loss at Capital

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Mount Union finished its season with a 16-10 loss at Capital in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Saturday at Bernlohr Stadium.

Alek Kungle (Hartville / Lake) scored three goals and Javin Re (Chantilly, Va.) had two goals as the Purple Raiders close out the season with an overall record of 6-9 and a 4-5 record in the OAC.

Ryan Rampi had five goals and five assists to lead a Capital team that is 15-1 overall and won the OAC title with a 9-0 record.

Capital got out to a 4-1 lead in the game's first 13 minutes with Re scoring the lone Raider goal in that stretch. Mount Union then got two scores in the span of 45 seconds as Hunter Holt (Cranberry, Pa. / Seneca Valley) and Kungle scored to make it 4-3 but the Crusaders got one through with just five seconds left in the quarter to lead 5-3.

Adam Washburne (Canton / Massillon Jackson) scored three minutes into the second quarter to make it 5-4 but again Capital responded with three straight goals to go up 8-4 with eight minutes left before halftime. Mount Union finished the quarter scoing two of the final three goals with scores from Grant Elffers (Hudson) and Matt Bisono (Deer Park, N.Y.) and trailed 9-6 at the break.

Capital came out of the locker room and out-scored Mount Union 4-1 in the third quarter to take a 13-7 lead. The Raiders goal came from Alex Ellison (Uniontown / Lake). 

Re scored again to start the fourth and make the score 13-8 but Capital ended any chance of a rally with three more scores to lead 16-8 with 7:21 to play. Kungle tallied two more scores in the game's final minutes.
