Men's Soccer Posts Second Straight Shutout
The Purple Raiders have now won two straight and stands at 3-2 on the season. Mount Union has won three of its last four matches and has not allowed a goal in 235:31 consecutive minutes.
Penn State-Altoona falls to 2-2 with the loss.
Sophomore Kevin Cindric (Willowick/Eastlake North) started the scoring in the 15th minute with his team-leading fourth goal of the season off an assist from senior Chris Bondra (Mentor/NDCL).
Senior Brendan Rodgers (Homeworth/West Branch) then fed fellow senior Brian Mogus (Canton/Canton South) as he scored in the 41st minute to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead at the half.
That would be all the scoring Jon Critell (Youngstown/Cardinal Mooney) would need in goal as he had a pair of saves in getting his second shutout of the season.
Mount Union plays Saturday back in Pittsburgh against No. 18 in the nation Johns Hopkins (MD) University at at 5 pm.
