AUSTINTOWN, Ohio—University of Mount Union sophomore Thomas Beck (Poland/Cardinal Mooney) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week.
Beck scored four goals and added an assists in the Purple Raiders' three matches of the week. He scored at least one goal in all three matches to improve his goal streak to four games. Against #24 Allegheny (Pa.), he scored two goals and had an assist to contribute on all three Purple Raider scores.
Led by Beck's play, Mount Union went 2-1 on the week, including a 3-0 victory over #24 Allegheny (Pa.). The Purple Raiders (5-3-0) are off to one of the best starts in the past decade. With two matches remaining, the Purple Raiders are one win from tying the record for most wins through the end of September, which was most recently done last season (5-2-1).
The Purple Raiders will return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to Grove City (Pa.) for a game at 4 p.m.
