Men's Soccer: Felker and Kissinger Selected Academic All-Ohio
WILIMINGTON, Ohio – Two Mount Union's men's soccer players – senior Chris Felker (Boardman/Cardinal Mooney) and sophomore Ryan Kissinger (Mars, Pa./Mars) –were named to the 2013 Academic All-Ohio Division III first and third team by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association announced Friday (January 10) afternoon.
A double major in international business and German with a 3.95 GPA. He started in 19 games, netted four goals and finished with eight points finishing third on the team in scoring. Felker was an Academic All-OAC selection, was selected to the conference second-team, and was a NSCAA Men's Scholar All-East Region Honorable mention selection.
A geology major with a 3.58 GPA, Kissinger earned his first conference academic honor. He played in all 21 games and started in 18, notching two goals.
The Purple Raiders went 12-9 this season, advanced to the OAC Tournament semifinals and finished third in the conference – the best finish in the conference since 2003 – under first year coach Nick Stirrett.
To qualify for Academic All-Ohio, a student athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average, start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team, be a sophomore or above in academic standing, and be in their second year at the current school.
