Men's Soccer: Mount Union Hosts Case Western Reserve in Home Opener Tuesday

Mount Union's men's soccer team looks to avoid back-to-back losing seasons for the first time in six years in 2015.

The Purple Raiders start the season Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. against Case Western Reserve in Mount Union Stadium.  There will be a video broadcast of the game and live stats available online at

Mount Union return 14 letterwinners and six starters as Carter Poe moves from assistant coach to head coach this season.

Everything starts in the back for the Raiders as junior Dylan Lias (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) is back in goal.  Lias led the OAC with 85 saves on his way to All-OAC honorable mention honors.

Two other juniors -- Jacob Sutton (Alliance/Marlington) and Mitchell Tiah (Grayson, Ga./Grayson) along with sophomores Carter Dunn (Hustonville, Ky./Lincoln County) ,Todd Cooper (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) and Jesse Tinney (Heidelberg, Pa./Chartiers Valley) as returning starters.

Sutton played in all 18 games while Tiah, Dunn and Tinney all scored.

Mount Union makes its first road trip Friday playing at 5 p.m. at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
