ALLIANCE, Ohio -- In a game that was close in every statistic, the Mount Union men's soccer team outlasted Oberlin by a final score of 2-1 in overtime Wednesday at Mount Union Stadium.
Senior forward Kevin Blackley (Aurora/Aurora) scored two unassisted goals for the Purple Raiders including the game winner in the 100th minute.
The Yeomen started the game strong as they scored in the 16th minute off the foot of Jack McMillin. The Yeoman outshot the Raiders 10-5 in the first half and did not allow a goal heading into halftime.
The Raiders turned it on in the second half, putting pressure on Oberlin as they outshot the Yeomen 5-3 and got on the board when Blackley scored his first goal of the night in the 65th minute to tie the score at 1-1. Both teams had chances down the stretch before the end of regulation.
As the game looked like it would head to a second overtime, Blackley scored the game-winning goal with just 11 seconds to play in the first overtime.
Sophomore goalkeeper Zach Hlas (Medina/Medina) played all 100 mintues for the Raiders facing 14 shots.
Mount Union has won two straight and is now 4-4 on the season while Oberlin falls to 4-4-1.
