MARIETTA, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's soccer team dropped to 5-6-1 and 1-2-1 in the OAC after losing to Marietta (9-3-1, 3-1) by a final score of 3-2 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup at Marietta.

On the wet field at Marietta, the shots toward the goal were reluctant to come by as there were only a total of 10 shots on goal which narrowly favored the Pioneers 6-4.

The scoring was started in the 18th minute off the foot of Marietta's Robert Phillips. The Purple Raiders answered in the 21st minute on Kevin Blackley's (Aurora/Aurora)fourth goal of the year off an assist from sophomore Jon Schroeder (Parma/Normandy). The Pioneers made the score 2-1 at halftime off a header from Luke Maher in the 33rd minute.

Marietta got on the board first in the second half as Sebastian Ziaja scored in 78th minute to extend their lead to 3-1 before junior Colton Harsh (Ravenna/Southest) scored his first goal of the season on an assist from sophomore Daniel Chung (Stow/CVCA) to make the final score 3-2.

Mount had a good opportunity in the 87th to tie the game on a corner kick from Schroeder to junior Joe Winiecki (Stow/Stow) but the header went high.

The Raiders will be back on the pitch Saturday, October 14th at home against Capital at 7 p.m.
