ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's soccer tied their season high for goals in a game with a 3-0 win over Muskingum in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Tuesday night at Mount Union Stadium.
The Purple Raiders offense which fired off 28 shots on the game, was led by sophomore Jon Schroeder (Parma/Normandy) who tallied a goal and an assist on the night.
With the win, the Purple Raiders advance their record to 7-6-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the conference while Muskingum drops to 2-12-1 overall and 0-6 in the OAC.
In the first half where Mount outshot the Muskies 14-1, the Raiders converted twice in the half. Schroeder scored his fourth goal of the year to get the scoring started off the second assist of the year from classmate Daniel Chung (Stow/CVCA) in the 16th minute. In the 38th minute, the Raiders added their second goal of the half on an unassisted goal by junior Colton Harsh (Ravenna/Southeast).
The second half was almost a carbon copy of the first half as the Raiders outshot Muskingum 14-6. Mount Union's Stephen Dages (Uniontown/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) scored the only second half goal in the 63rd minute off an assist from Schroeder.
Sophomore goalkeeper Zach Hlas (Medina/Medina) faced four shots on goal while playing 83 minutes in the game.
