ALLIANCE, Ohio-No. 24 ranked Mount Union men's soccer collected their first conference win and eighth straight shutout victory 1-0 over Otterbein Saturday afternoon at Mount Union Stadium.
Junior Josh Lewis (Elyria) netted his first goal of the season while the Raider defense allowed five shots on goal.
The victory marks the best start to a season since the 1976 Mount Union squad (9-1).
Otterbein sinks to 3-4, 0-1 OAC with the defeat. The loss for Otterbein is the first OAC loss since 2016.
Lewis tallied his first goal of the season just before halftime in the 42nd minute off a free kick.
Junior Zach Hlas (Medina) recorded five saves for his eighth shutout victory.
Mount Union has not allowed a goal in 789:58 minutes of play dating back to last season. The Purple Raiders are the last team in division three to allow a goal on the season.
