Men's Soccer: Strong Second Half Propels Raiders over Muskies

ALLIANCE, Ohio-- Mount Union's men's soccer squad used a big second half to breeze past Muskingum 4-0 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday evening at Mount Union Stadium.  

Senior Joe Winiecki (Stow) and junior Benjamin Hobrath (Brunswick/CVCA) both tallied a goal while freshman Rylan Wikle (Olmsted Falls) recorded two goals in the match as Mount Union improved to 9-2 overall and 2-2 in the OAC.

Muskingum drops to 5-8 overall and 0-4 in the OAC on the season.

Winiecki broke the scoreless tie in the 68th minute to get the Raiders on the board. 

Hobrath scored seven minutes later while Wikle recorded both of his goals over a five minute span to finish the scoring for the Purple Raiders. 

The Raiders outshot the Muskies 20-7 while junior Zach Hlas (Medina) posted three saves to earn his ninth shutout of the season. 

Mount Union stays at home to face Captial Saturday, October 13 at 1 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
