Men's Soccer: Raiders Take Down Marietta in OAC Tournament Action

ALLIANCE, Ohio--Mount Union's men's soccer team claimed victory over Marietta 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Tournament Tuesday evening at Mount Union Stadium.

Junior Jon Schroeder (Parma/Normandy) tallied a goal and an assist in the match while senior Joe Winiecki (Stow) tallied his fourth goal on the season.

Mount Union improves to 13-3-1 with the victory while Marietta falls to 10-9 on the season.

Schroeder netted his goal in the 20th minute to give Mount Union the 1-0 lead.

Winiecki doubled the Mount Union lead in the second half off a corner kick from Schroeder.

The Pioneers scored in the 73rd minute but Marietta was unable to complete a comeback.

Junior goalkeeper Zach Hlas (Medina) collected his 13th victory of the season making seven saves in net. 

The victory marked the first men's soccer OAC Tournament win since 2013.

Mount Union will travel to face number two seed John Carroll on Thursday, November 1 in the semifinals of the OAC Tournament.
