AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Five of Mount Union's men's soccer student-athletes have been selected to the 2018 All-Ohio Athletic Conference Teams by the conference's 10 head coaches.
Senior Joe Winiecki (Stow) was named to the first team, juniors Josh Lewis (Elyria), Jon Schroeder (Parma/Normandy) and Zach Hlas (Medina) to the second team while sophomore Austin Overy (Perrysburg) received honorable mention honors.
Winiecki, a first team and 2018 All-OAC Tournament selection, receives his first set of conference honors since 2016. With four goals, Winiecki was one of Mount Union's top scorers this season and a key defender for the team.
With first-time honors, Lewis started all 18 games for the Purple Raiders, anchoring the Mount Union midfield, and tallied two goals and one assist.
As one for the leading scorers for Mount Union, Schroeder receives his second consecutive all-conference honor with four goals and led the team with seven assists.
Hlas, a 2017 honorable mention recipient, had a record setting season in goal for the Raiders as he logged 1676:36 with 48 saves to lead the conference in save percentage (.828). Tying the single-season record in shutouts (10), Hlas also set a new single-season record in goals against average (0.54).
As honorable mention, Overy led the Mount Union defense that remained at the top of the conference in goals against average at 0.53.
The Purple Raiders finished third in the OAC with a conference record of 5-3-1 and an overall record of 13-4-1.
