AUSTINTOWN, Ohio— The Mount Union men's soccer team was selected fourth in the preseason Ohio Athletic Conference coaches poll.

The Purple Raiders gathered 56 points just one point behind third place Ohio Northern (57 pts.).

In his fifth year, head coach Carter Poe brings back 10 letterwinners from last year's team which tied a school single-season record with 13 wins.

The Purple Raiders return three seniors who each earned second-team All-OAC honors last year in goalkeeper Zach Hlas (Medina/Medina), forward Jon Schroeder (Parma/Normandy) and midfielder Josh Lewis (Elyria/Elyria). Hlas, who recorded a Mount Union record of 10 shutouts last season, begins his third season as the starting keeper.

Another all-conference returner is junior defender Austin Overy (Perrysburg/Perrysburg), who will help lead a defense that topped the conference in goals against average at 0.53

Mount Union opens its season at home on Saturday, August 30 at 7 p.m. against Wooster at Mount Union Stadium.
