Men's Soccer: Fuchs First Goal Wins It For #19 Mount Union

HIRAM, Ohio—Freshman Nicholas Fuchs (Columbus / St. Francis DeSales) first career goal came in the 75th minute to give No. 19 ranked Mount Union a 1-0 win at Hiram Wednesday night.

With a 40-minute lightning delay to start the game, the first half was rather quiet as both teams had five shots with no one converting those chances into a goal.

Fuchs found the back of the net in the 75th minute off of passes from sophomore Adam Passino (Maumee / Anthony Wayne) and senior Josh Lewis (Elyria) to put the Purple Raiders up 1-0.

Mount Union (3-0-1) out-shot Hiram (2-2-1) eight to four in the second half.

Senior Zach Hlas (Medina) made four saves in his second-straight and third shutout of the season for Mount Union.

Mount Union returns home Saturday, September 14 to play against Defiance at 7 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
