NEW CONCORD, Ohio—No. 22 Mount Union got a pair of goals in the second half from senior teammates Ben Hobrath (Brunswick / CVCA) and Jon Schroeder (Parma / Normandy) to win 2-0 at Muskingum in an Ohio Athletic Conference match up Wednesday night.
With the win Mount Union improves to 2-0-2 in the OAC and 8-1-3 overall while Muskingum drops to 0-4 and 7-6-1 overall.
The Purple Raiders had been held scoreless for the past two games but a ball from sophomore Christian Egan (Monongahela, Pa. / Ringgold) to Hobrath in the 54th minute put the Raiders on top 1-0 and end their scoreless streak.
Mount Union got another goal from Schroeder just three minutes later to make the score 2-0 in the 57th minute.
Senior goalkeeper Zach Hlas (Medina) and the Purple Wall held Muskingum to one shot on goal with Hlas making the save.
Hlas now has his fourth consecutive shutout and eighth of the season. He has kept opponents scoreless for 400 minutes during his shutout streak.
Mount Union will stay on the road visiting Capital in an OAC matchup Saturday, October 19th at 1pm.
