Men's Soccer: Hlas' Record Setting Shutout Lands Raiders in OAC Tourney

ADA, Ohio -- Mount Union senior Zach Hlas (Medina) posted his ninth shutout of the season to lead the Mount Union men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory at Ohio Northern in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Saturday night at Kershner Stadium.

It was career shutout No. 23 for Hlas which gives him the Mount Union all-time record besting Jon Critell who had 22 from 2009-12.

After a scorless first half, freshman Jack Erickson (Wadsworth) got his first career goal in the 73rd minute off an assist from senior Josh Lewis (Elyria) and junior Colton Priester (Painesville / Riverside) addedanother goal in the 81st minute for Mount Union.

The win also clinched a spot in next week's OAC Tournament for the Purple Raiders who finish the regular season 10-3-4 overall and 4-2-3 in the OAC to secure the No. 5 seed and will play at No. 4 seed Capital Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. in Columbus.

Ohio Northern is 13-5-2 and 5-3-1 in the OAC and the Polar Bears are No. 3 seed in next week's tournament.
