The Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association has released its 2019 All-Ohio and Academic All-Ohio Awards teams with Mount Union's men's soccer team represented by two Raiders in senior goalkeeper Zach Hlas (Medina) being selected first team for both and senior midfielder Josh Lewis (Elyria) second team for both. Four more Raiders landed spots on the Academic All-Ohio team or the All-Ohio team with senior defensemen Tyler Cooper (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) receiving Academic All-Ohio first team, senior defensemen Jon Schroeder (Parma / Normandy) All-Ohio first team, senior defensemen Brian Belz (North Royalton) Academic All-Ohio second team, and junior defensemen Austin Overy (Perrysburg) All-Ohio second team.
Hlas, 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Year, had a record setting season in goal for the Raiders as he logged 1836:11 with 57 saves. Breaking the career record in shutouts (23), Hlas also set a new career record in goals against average (0.73).
Lewis was named All-OAC second team and All-Great Lakes third team. With three goals, Lewis was one of Mount Union's top scorers this season.
Cooper and Belz both Academic All-OAC selections led the "Purple Wall" defense that was second in the conference in goals against average at 0.69.
Schroeder led the Purple Raiders in goals and assists with five for each was an All-OAC first team and All-Great Lakes third team selection.
Overy, an All-OAc first team selection, started 18 games for Mount Union finishing with two goals one of which was a game-winner.
The Purple Raiders finished third in the OAC with a conference record of 4-2-3 and an overall record of 10-4-5.
