Men's Swimming And Diving Falls To Westminster In Regular Season Finale

NEW WILMINGTON, Pennsylvania - - Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team fell 166-125 to Westminster in its regular season finale Saturday afternoon. 

With the win, Westminster improves to 10-2 overall while Mount Union falls to 8-5. 

In the meet, the Purple Raiders took first place honors in five events. 

Senior Mike Greisl (South Euclid/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) swam one of his best meets of the year as he swam in four events (two individuals and two relays) all of which finished in first place. 

Greisl finished first in the 50 free (22.37), 100 free (49.35), 200 free (1:49.00) and swam the fourth and final leg in the 200 free relay (1:28.51) that was comprised of sophomore Hayden Birnbrich (Pataskala/Columbus St. Charles Prep) who led off in the relay, freshman Gavin Rundell (Mount Vernon/Mount Vernon) who swam second and junior Mike Zappa (Shelby/Shelby) who swam the third leg. 

Rundell also swam to a first place finish in the 500 yard freestyle (5:03.09). 

The Raiders next meet will be when they swam at the OAC championships February 14-16 in Akron, Ohio.
