AKRON, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team finished day two of the Ohio Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championship meet in third place on Friday at the University of Akron.
Mount Union placed third with 387 points while John Carroll placed first with 550 points and Ohio Northern placed second with 467 points. .
The Purple Raiders were paced by Tyler Fry (Massillon/Washington) who broke a school record and earned an NCAA B cut in the 100 yard backstroke.
Fry placed second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 50.45 while Tyler Moore (Amherst/Amherst Steele) placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 56.53 which is also an NCAA B cut.
Others earning All-OAC honors were Brian Walker (Cincinnati/Oak Hills), placing first in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:07.73, Alex Machovina (Amherst/Amherst Steele) placing third in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.06, Jack Ineson (Huron/Huron) placing third in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 57.36, and Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa./Hopewell) placing third in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 50:71.
In relay action, Fry, Ineson, Machovina and Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) placed second in the 800 medley relay with a time of 6:58.99
The top three finishers in individual events and the top two relay teams in each event earn All-OAC conference honors.
Competition continues Saturday, Feb. 18 with preliminaries at 10 am followed by the finals at 5:30 pm with senior recognition at the University of Akron.
