ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Purple Raiders swam past Hiram today with a 168-89 victory today at the Hammond Natatorium.
Leading the way were senior Tyler Fry (Massillon/Washington), junior Jack Ineson (Huron/Huron) and sophomore Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa./Hopewell). Fry won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.11 along with the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:04.92. Palochak claimed victory in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.57) and 200-yard backstroke (2:04.21). Along with Ineson and Jared Watson (Alliance/Alliance), the four won the 200-yard medley relay with a 1:40.06. Ineson also won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.74 was a part of the 400-yard freestyle relay along with Nick Hoffman (Fremont/Fremont Ross), Michael Jeromin (Chagrin Falls/Kentson) and Will Turnbull (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) with a time of 3:25.89.
Both Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) and Derek Currey (McDonald, Pa./West Alleghany) won two events on the day. Ellsworth posted top times in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:54.07 and the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:08.53. Currey won the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:26.03 and the 100-yard butterfly at 56.12.
Zachary Grebert (Chandler, Az./Hamilton) won the longest event of the day, winning the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:44.16. Diver Jacob Barton (Madison/Madison) claimed victory in both 1-meter diving events, scoring 115.53 the first event and 130.35 in the second.
