NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Mount Union men's swimming and diving team finished fourth with 96 points at the Westminster Relays at Westminster (Pa.) College Friday night.
The men finished six points out of third place, trailing Westminster College who scored 102 points. Edinboro University and Gannon University tied to win the meet with 112 points each. Clarion University close out the standings, finishing fifth with 28 points.
Led by the 3x100-yard backstroke relay of senior Tyler Fry (Massillon/Washington), junior Will Turnbull (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) and sophomore Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa./Hopewell) who won the only event for the team with a time of 2:41.05.
The men also finished second in two events, as the 500-yard freestyle relay of Fry, Palochak, Derek Currey (McDonald, Pa./West Alleghany) and Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) finished with a time of 4:24.03. Ellsworth also finished in second in the 3x500-yard freestyle relay, joined by Zachary Grebert (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and Brian Walker (Cincinnati/Oak Hills).
Next up, the Purple Raiders travel to University Heights for a dual meet at John Carroll Saturday, Nov. 4.
