ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The men's swimming and diving team defeated Baldwin-Wallace today by a score of 123-81 in the Hammond Natatorium.
The Purple Raiders were lead by senior Tyler Fry (Massillon/Washington) who won two individual races and one relay race on the day. Fry finished first in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:01.36 while also winning the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 48.73. Fry was also a member of the 200 yard medley relay with junior Jack Ineson (Huron/Huron), sophomore Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa./Hopewell) and junior Nick Hoffman (Fremont/Fremont Ross) who finished with a time of 1:38.96. Palochak and Ineson both had first-place individual finishes in the 50 yard freestyle (22.42) and 200 yard freestyle (1:52.65), respectively.
Sophomore Cole Ellsworth also had a pair of wins on the afternoon. Ellsworth won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.40 along with being a member of the 200 yard freestyle team with junior Michael Jeromin (Chagrin Falls/Kenston), Nicholas Elia (Chardon/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) and freshman Derek Currey (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) that finished with a time of 1:32.34.
Also recording wins on the afternoon for the Raiders was junior Will Turnbull (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) and freshman Zachary Grebert (Chandler Ariz./Hamilton). Turnbull won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 55.99 and Grebert won the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 17.39.68.
Mount Union's swim team will be back in action November 30th through December 2nd at the Wooster Invitational.
