Men's Swimming and Diving Palochak and Fry Break School Records Despite Loss to St. Vincent

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Despite sophomore Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa./Hopewell) and senior Tyler Fry (Massillon/Washington) breaking school records, the Mount Union men's swimming and diving team dropped to 4-2 overall (1-1 OAC) in the 132.5-129.5 loss to St. Vincent (3-2) Friday in the Hammond Natatorium.

Palochak broke a seven year record of 24.46 with a time of 23.41 in the 50 yard butterfly. Fry broke the 100 yard IM school record of 54.88 just set last year by Jack Ineson (Huron/Huron) with his own time of 54.48. 

In the 400 yard medley relay, Fry, Ineson, Palochak and freshman Derek Currey (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) won with a time of 3:37.31. Fry aslo had wins in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 24.53 and the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.96. Ineson also earned a win in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:17.46. Sophomore Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) also earned two wins on the night by winning the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:00.10 and the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:14.14. 

The Raiders will have over a month off as the next race will be an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup at Ohio Northern at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 13th.
