Swimming and Diving: Oktavec and Palochak Named OAC Swimmers of the Week

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio--Mount Union's swimming and diving student-athletes Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick) and Logan Palochak (Hopewell) were named the Ohio Athletic Conference Swimmers of the Week (10/22). 

Oktavec recorded first place in the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke and was a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team as Mount Union defeated Malone 134-126 on Friday, October 19. 

The senior went on to place first in the 50-meter freestyle and participate in the 200-meter medley relay and 200-meter freestyle relay that recorded times of 2:18.46 and 1:59.81 respectively. The victories from Oktavec helped Mount Union defeat Hiram 157-64 on Saturday, October 20. 

On the men's side, junior Logan Palochak (Hopewell) led the way for Mount Union as he won the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly and a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that registered a time of 1:28.89. The Purple Raiders beat Malone 178-111 on Friday, October 19. 

The following day, Palochak tallied victories in the 50-meter breaststroke and 50-meter backstroke. Palochak was also a swimmer in the 200-meter relay and 200-meter freestyle as Mount Union came away with a 163-65 win over Hiram Saturday, October 20. 

Mount Union travels to New Wilmington, Pa. on Friday, October 26 to participate in the Westminster (Pa.) Relays at 6 p.m.
