Men's Swimming and Diving: Raiders Hold Third Place after Day One of OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio--Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team sits in third with a score of 169 after the first day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships from the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

Leading the way for the Purple Raiders was junior Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) who recorded a second-place time of 4:38.34 in the 500-yard freestyle to collect All-OAC honors. Ellsworth later helped the 400 medley relay team collect third with swimmers junior Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa./Hopewell) and freshmen Ben Hoffmann (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Technical) and Isaiah Acosta (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Joseph).

Freshman Brett Scheib (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) was awarded All-OAC honors as he took third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:39.08.

The relay team of senior Mike Jeromin (Chagrin Falls /Kenston), juniors Noah Kee (Canton/GlenOak) and Palochak along with sophomore Mark Silver (Painesville/Riverside) placed third in the 200-yard freestyle.

The top three finishers in individual events and the top two relay teams in each event earn All-OAC conference honors.

Competition continues Friday, Feb. 15 with preliminaries at 10 a.m. followed by the finals at 6 p.m. at the University of Akron.
