AKRON, Ohio--Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team finished third with a score of 694.5 after the final day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships from the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.
John Carroll won the OAC Championship beating second place Ohio Northern (744.5). Behind the Raiders was fourth place Baldwin Wallace (310) and coming in fifth was Wilmington (273).
In the third day, leading the way for the Purple Raiders was junior Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) who collected a second place All-OAC honor in the 1650-yard freestyle with an NCAA B-Cut time of 15:56.70.
Also in the 1650, freshman Brett Scheib (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) earned All-OAC honors with a third-place finish in the with a time of 15:57.65
Junior Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa./Hopewell) collected individual OAC honors after taking second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.56 while freshman Ben Hoffmann (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Technical) clocked a third-place time of 1:55.03 in the 200-yard backstroke.
Ellsworth and Palochak were members of the 400-yard freestyle relay that placed third with swimmers sophomore Mark Silver (Painesville/Riverside) and freshman Brian Regovich (Eastlake/Eastlake North).
In diving, freshman Ronnie Milam (Uniontown/Lake) placed third in the 1-meter event.
With NCAA B-Cuts, Ellsworth and Scheib qualified for the 1650 freestyle. In order to qualify for the NCAA, their times have to be in the top 16 nationally in those events.
The top three finishers in individual events and the top two relay teams in each event earn All-OAC conference honors.
