COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) has named the University of Mount Union men's and women's swimming and diving teams to its Scholar All-America team for the 2018-19 season.
The Purple Raider women's team posted a combined cumulative grade point average of 3.56 while the men's team compiled a 3.38 grade point average.
CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart noted: "Coach Mojock has built a program the university can be proud of - in the pool, the classroom and community."
The CSCAA recognizes those teams achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester. In NCAA Division III, there were 185 women's teams and 134 men's teams recognized.
Mount Union freshman Brett Scheib (Gibsonia, Pa. / Hampton) earned CSCAA Scholar All-America honors individually. To earn individual honors, a swimmer must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and achieved a "B" time standard in an event. Scheib swam an NCAA "B" cut time with a third place and all-conference finish in the 1650 Freestyle at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships this past winter. He also had another all-conference performance with a third in the 500 Freestyle. Out of the pool, Scheib is a Biochemistry major.
