Men's Swimming and Diving: Mount Union Swims Past Hiram in Home Opener

ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team defeated Hiram 146-13 Saturday afternoon in their home opener.

The Purple Raiders (2-0) took first place in nine events and recorded the fastest times in the remaining three events. 

Leading the way for Mount Union was sophomore Isaiah Acosta (Buffalo, N.Y. / St. Joseph) winning the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

Also receiving first place finishes was sophomore Brian Regovich (Willowick / Eastlake North), senior Noah Kee (Canton / GlenOak), freshman Nathan Williams (Columbia, S.C. / Irmo), senior Joseph Palmquist (North Huntingdon, Pa. / Norwin), and sophomore Brett Scheib (Gibsonia, Pa. / Hampton).

In the diving event, senior Kyle Greig (Mentor) took first place with a score of 183.40.

Senior Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich. / Bedford), sophomore Kyle Kresl (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Carroll), and the 200 freestyle relay team of Accosta, sophomore Ben Hoffmann (St. Cloud, Minn. / St. Cloud Technical), freshman Max Baetscakos (Imperial, Pa. / West Allegheny), and junior Derek Currey (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny) also swam the fastest times in their events. 

The Raiders are back in action Saturday, Oct. 26 as they host St. Vincent (Pa.) at 1 p.m.
