Men's Swimming and Diving: Scheib Picks Up Win; Raiders Finish in Second

WOOSTER, Ohio - The Mount Union men's swimming and diving team finished in second place at the Wooster Invitational Saturday night.

The Purple Raiders were led by sophomore Brett Scheib (Gibsonia, Pa. / Hampton) who won the 1650 Yard Freestyle with a time of 16:23.29. Senior Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich. / Bedford) was also in the race swimming a 16:42.64 good for third overall.

Freshman Nathan Williams (Columbia, S.C. / Irmo) swam a time of 54.55, junior Derek Currey (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny) 55.37, and junior Mark Silver (Painesville / Riverside) 56.86 finished fourth, sixth, and eight overall in the 100-yard IM.

In the 400-yard Freestyle Relay the team of freshman Charles Marshall (Painesville / Riverside), senior Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa. / Hopewell), freshman Jason Tondra ( Canton / Massillon Jackson), and Silver combined for a time of 3:09.82 good for fourth overall.

Finishing the scoring for Mount Union was Tondra in the 100-yard Freestyle finishing seventh overall with a time of 47.34.

Mount Union will take a break in competition and compete again after the new year in an Ohio Athletic Conference duel against Ohio Northern Saturday, Jan. 11at 1 p.m. in Ada, Ohio.
