Men's Swimming and Diving: Raiders Defeat Youngstown State

ALLIANCE, Ohio -  The Mount Union men's swimming and diving team defeated Younstown State 186-81 Friday evening at the Hammond Natatorium. 

Leading the way for the Purple Raiders (7-2, 2-2 OAC) was senior Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa. / Hopewell) posting three wins on the evening. Palochak took first in the 200-yard medley relay with help from teammates freshman Charles Marshall (Painesville / Riverside), sophomore Nick Dye (Massillon / Massillon Jackson), and junior Mark Silver (Painesville / Riverside), the 50-yard freestyle, and the 100-yard freestyle. 

Other first place finishes came from senior Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich. / Bedford) in the 1000 free, Marshall in the 100-yard backstroke, freshman Nathan Williams (Columbia, S.C. / Irmo) in the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard backstroke, sophomore Brett Scheib (Gibsonia, Pa. / Hampton) in the 500-yard freestyle, and sophomore Isaiah Acosta (Buffalo, N.Y. / St. Joseph) in the in the 200 IM.

Also grabbing first was the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Silver, Ellsworth, sophomore Brian Regovich (Willowick / Eastlake North), and sophomore Jason Tondra (Canton / Massillon Jackson). 

Mount Union returns to the pool Friday, Jan. 31 as they travel to Notre Dame (Ohio) for a 6 p.m. start.
