Men's Swimming and Diving: Record Setting Day Gives Raiders Second Place Through Day Two

AKRON, Ohio - Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team stands in second place after day one the 2020 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Ocasak Natatorium at The University of Akron.

The Purple Raiders tallied 527 points, 165 points ahead of third place team Ohio Northern.

Leading Mount Union on the night was the 800-yard freestyle team of freshmen Jason Tondra and Charles Marshall (Painesville / Riverside), sophomore Brett Scheib, and senior Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich. / Bedford) setting an OAC and school record winning with a time of 6:50.95.

The Raiders had freshman Nathan Williams (Canton / Massillon Jackson) take first place and All-OAC honors in the 400-yard IM clocking a time of 4:03.18 which bested a school record set in 2016 by Brian Walker.

Ellsworth grabbed first place with All-OAC honors in the 200-yard freestyle after breaking his own record with a time of 1:41.04 while Tondra also received All-OAC finishing third with 1:41.80.

200-yard medley relay team of Marshall, sophomore Nick Dye (Massillon / Massillon Jackson), senior Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa. / Hopewell), and junior Mark Silver (Painesville / Riverside) earned All-OAC accolades with a second-place finish swimming a 1:34. 52.

Marshall went on to place third in the 100-yard backstroke recording a 51.39 to receive All-OAC accolades.

In the One-meter dive sophomore Ronnie Milam (Uniontown / Lake) finished with 372.75 points to claim All-OAC honors in third place.

The final day of the OAC Championships continue tomorrow Saturday, Feb. 15 with preliminaries starting 10 a.m.
