Mount Union's men's tennis team travels to Oberlin for a non-conference tennis match Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
The Purple Raiders have a record of 4-0 on the season and are coming off of a 9-0 shutout against Westminster last Friday in the Peterson Field House.
Sophomore Nick Fockler (North Canton/Hoover) defeated Troy Abbot in the No. 2 singles match 6-2, 6-2 and improved his singles record to 4-0.
Freshman Malcolm Leake (Fremont/Fremont Ross) was victorious in the No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-1 and improved his singles record on the season to 4-0.
Junior Patrick Yackmack (Mantua/Twinsburg) and freshman Dominic Marino (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) were dominant in both of their singles matches winning 6-0, 6-0 and improved their singles record to 3-1 and 2-0 respectively.
In the doubles matches, Nick and his brother senior Nate Fockler (North Canton/Hoover) were victorious in the no. 1 doubles match 8-3, Yackmack and Leak won the no. 2 doubles match 8-2 and sophomore Ben Swope (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and Marino won the no. 3 doubles match 8-3.
On the season, the Raiders have not lost a doubles match (12-0) and have only lost three singles matches (21-3).
Oberlin has a record of 3-1 on the season and is currently on a three match win streak with victories over Wabash (5-4), Heidelberg (9-0) and in its last match against Ohio Wesleyan (7-2).
The Yeomen finished the 2011-12 season with a 10-14 record and finished seventh at the NCAC tournament.
