Men's Tennis Begins Spring Trip With Victory Over Fairleigh Dickinson
HILTON HEAD, S.C. - - Mount Union's men's tennis team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson (N.J.) 7-2 in the first of its four matches during its spring break trip.
With the win, Mount Union improves to 5-1 on the season while Fairleigh Dickinson falls to 1-2.
Junior Patrick Yackmack (Mantua/Twinsburg) was victorious in both his singles and doubles match as he defeated AJ Warden 6-0, 6-0 in the no. 3 singles position and was paired with junior Jeff Looker (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) in the no. 3 doubles position as they defeated Naser Mannan and Nikola Radovic 8-4.
Sophomore Ben Swope (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) also recorded two wins on the day as he defeated Ryan Kearns 7-5, 7-5 in the no. 4 singles position and was paired with freshman Josh Duerr (Uniontown/Lake) as they defeated Mitch Gettis and Ryan Hurdes 8-3 in the no. 2 doubles position.
Mount Union's next match will be Tuesday when it faces Juniata (Pa.) with the match scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
