Men’s Tennis Travels To Franciscan Tuesday
Mount Union's men's tennis team travels to Franciscan for a non-conference tennis match Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
Mount Union enters the match with a record of 8-1 on the season and comes off competing in five matches in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The Purple Raiders went undefeated with a 5-0 record on the trip with victories over Fairleigh Dickinson (N.J.) (7-2), Juniata (Pa.) (6-3), Edgewood (Wis.) (8-1) and Greenville (Ill.) (6-3).
Junior Patrick Yackmack (Mantua/Twinsburg), sophomore Ben Swope (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and freshman Dominic Marino (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) all had four wins in singles which led the Raiders on the trip, while Yackmack went a perfect 4-0 in doubles to lead the team.
On the season, Swope leads the Raiders with an 8-0 record in singles while the pairing of senior Nate Fockler (North Canton/Hoover) and his brother sophomore Nick Fockler (North Canton/Hoover) lead the team with a 7-2 doubles record.
Franciscan enters Tuesday's match with a 2-4 record on the season and defeated Penn State-Altoona 8-1 in its last match.
The Raiders and the Barons faced each other in the fall season where the Raiders were victorious 7-2.
