AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Five Mount Union men's tennis players have been named to the 2018 All-Ohio Athletic Conference Teams by the conference's head coaches.
Sophomore Robert Cross (North Canton/Hoover) has been named to the All-OAC First Team after being an honorable selection a year ago. At the No. 1 and No. 2 singles position, Cross posted a record of 14-3 mark while in doubles, also at the No. 1 and No. 2 position, Cross went 15-3.
Representing the Purple Raiders of the All-OAC Second Team is senior Jackson Schneider (Oregon, Wis.), who posted a 9-5 singles record and the first and second spots, and a doubles record of 10-4, also at the first and second positions. With his third straight year receiving All-OAC honors, Schneider ended his career at Mount Union with an overall record of 109-34, climbing to the fifth most wins in school history.
Sophomore Zach Teffner (Cortland/Lakeview) and freshmen Mark Beebe (Chardon/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) and Antonio Massucci (Ashtabula/Saint John) land among the All-OAC Honorable Mention picks with their first-ever selections.
Teffner, at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles position, went 9-8 on the year. At the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles pairings, Teffner compiled a record of 15-3.
In their debut seasons, Beebe and Massucci tabbed overall records of 26-9 and 19-7, respectively. Beebe rotated around the fourth-sixth singles spots for a 13-4 record. At the first and second doubles pairings, Beebe went 13-5. Massucci competed in 17 singles matches at the No. 3 and No. 4 singles position for a record of 13-4. At No. 3 doubles, Massucci went 6-3.
Mount Union concluded the 2017-18 season in the OAC Tournament finals with an overall record of 14-4 and 7-1 in the conference for a second place finish.
