Jones, Lutz and Griffin Improve Standing at Gator Last Chance Track Meet
Jones posted a school record mark of 144-6 and finished second
in the women's discus, Lutz is ranked second in the nation in the
discus after winning the event with a throw of 174-6 and Griffin
placed second in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:51.98.
Other top performances from the Purple Raiders came from Mary Mahoney (Ashtabula/St. John-St. Paul) who won the 200 meters (25.36) and placed third in the 400 meters (58.13), Kelsey Shonk (Columbus/Bishop Hartley) got on the NCAA provisional list with a sixth place finish in the discus (136-5), Annie Patton (Darlington, PA/Blackhawk) was second in the javelin (123-1), Aubrey Loy (Canton/Massillon Jackson) was second in the long jump (17-9), Scott Thomas (Salem/West Branch) finished second in the 100 meters (10.94) and Marc Aukerman (Greensburg, PA/Latrobe) third in the javelin (190-2).
The Raiders head to North Central (IL) Last Chance meet outside of
Chicago, IL this week as one final chance to qualify for the
NCAA Championships which will be May 27-29 at Baldwin-Wallace
College in Berea, Ohio.
