Mount Union's Scott Thomas Named Capital One Academic All-District IV Track & Field
DELAWARE, Ohio -- Mount Union senior Scott Thomas (Salem/West Branch) was named to the Capital One Academic All-District IV Track & Field Team selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Thomas recently graduated with a degree in biology with a 3.75 grade point average. On the track, he was OAC Indoor Track Champion in the 55 meter dash and 200 meters. He was named OAC Sprint Athlete of the Meet at the OAC Indoor Championships and went on to earn All-American honors with a sixth place finish in the 55 meters at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this past March. In the outdoor season, he qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 100 meter dash and finished ninth in the nation.
To be selected Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 grade point average. Thomas along with the other Academic All-District First Team selections advance to the national Academic All-American ballot.
Sports Information Directors within a district vote for the Academic All-District teams with members of the CoSIDA Academic All-American committee voting on the national ballot. District IV includes every NCAA Division II, III and NAIA institution in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.
