#11 Men's Indoor Track & Field Blows Out Competition at OAC Split Meet

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's men's indoor track and field team, ranked No. 11 in the nation, won the Ohio Athletic Conference Split Meet at Peterson Fieldhouse in Alliance.

The Purple Raiders scored 279 points which was nearly 100 points better than second place John Carroll (168.5) in the meet that featured the five northern most teams in the conference.

Ohio Northern was in third place with 132 points, followed by Baldwin Wallace with 85 and Heidleberg with 53.5.

Junior Sam Ludgood (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroder) won both the triple jump (49-6) and the long jump (23-8.4).  His mark in the long jump is the top mark in the country so far this season.

Three more field event wins came in the form of a school record performance from sophomore Sean Donnelly (Willoughby/Willoughby South) in the weight throw (58-9), sophomore Clay Densmore (Madison/Madison) in the pole vault (14-7) and junior Levi Simmons (Uniontown/Lake) in the high jump (6-6).

Senior Ryan Kohler (Minerva/Minerva) won the 200 meters (23.16) while sophomore Tyler Mettille (Canfield/Canfield) won the 500 meters (1:06.88).

Kohler and Mettille teamed with junior Chase Swisher (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) and freshman Bryan Whitlock to win the 4x200 relay (1:30.98).

Junior Chase Swisher (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) won the 800 meters (2:03.65) while sophomore Dan McGeary (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) won the 3,00 meters (9:02.37).

A pair of freshmen rounded out the event winners as Andrew Milhoan (Magnolia/Sandy Valley) won the 60 meter hurdles (8.55) and Chad Gentry (Louisville/Louisville) won the 400 meters (51.47).

Mount Union hosts the Jim Wuske Invitational next Saturday, Feb. 2 starting at 10:00 am.
