ALLIANCE, Ohio -- No. 10 ranked Mount Union had a number of strong performances by the men's indoor track and field team at the Jim Wuske Invitational at Peterson Fieldhouse in Alliance.
Sophomore Sean Donnelly (Willoughby/Willoughby South) claimed wins in both the weight throw (55-10.5) and in the shot put with a a career-best indoor mark of 53-8.25.
Juniors Alex Kovalik (Aurora/Aurora) and Derick Schwedt (Brook Park/Berea) went 1-2 in the 500 meters then the duo combined with freshmen Chad Gentry (Louisville/Louisville) and Tyler Sparks (Norwalk/Norwalk) to win the 4x400 relay (3:27.65).
Sophomore Wayman Pearson (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough) won the triple jump (41-9.25) while junior Levi Simmons (Uniontown/Lake) and Tyler Mettille (Canfield/Canfield) went 1-2 in the long jump. Mettille also won the 200 meters (22.61).
Sophomore Andrew Milhoan (East Sparta/Sandy Valley) won the 60 hurdles (8.54), junior Dustin Matak (Salem/Salem) won the 60 meter dash (6.96) while junior Chase Swisher (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) won the 400 meters (51.52) and placed second in the 200 meters (51.80).
Mount Union will run next Saturday at the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein.
