AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union was picked to win the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field title in the OAC Coaches Poll released today.
The Purple Raiders earned 63 points with seven of a possible nine place votes in this year's poll.
John Carroll in second with 53 points and Ohio Northern in third with 47 points each recieved a first place vote.
Marietta (46 points) and Otterbein (34 points) rounded out the top five.
A year ago, Mount Union won its OAC-record 29th conference title under current third-year head coach Kevin Lucas. Returning individual champions are junior Sam Ludgood (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) in the triple jump, junior Chase Swisher (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) in the 100 meter dash and junior Alex Kovalik (Aurora/Aurora) in the javelin.
For the third time in four years, the OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance on April 26-27.
