MARIETTA, Ohio -- Mount Union men's track and field team won the Ohio Athletic Conference Gold Meet Saturday at Marietta.
The Purple Raiders scored 182 points which was 45 points ahead of second place John Carroll (137) in the meet that featured five of the conference's 10 teams.
Mount Union won six events while sophomore Sean Donnelly (Willoughby/Willoughby South) set a new school record in the hammer throw as he finished second with a mark of 182-10.
Junior Chase Swisher (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) won the 100 meters (10.96) and teamed up with junior Sam Ludgood (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder), sophomore Tyler Mettille (Canfield/Canfield) and senior Ryan Kohler (Minerva/Minerva) to win the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 41.80.
Mettille also won the 400 meters with a time of 53.32.
The last event win came from the 4x800 meter relay team of sophomores Bryan Derr (Lakeville/Loudonville) and Nick Banks (Bay Village/Bay) with freshmen Tommy Swank (Wilmington/Wilmington) and Scott Whisler (Bryan/Bryan) with a time of 8:01.80.
Mount Union comes home next Friday and Saturday to host the John Homon Open at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.
