Men's Track & Field: #5 Mount Union Gets Three NCAA Provisional Marks at Allegheny Gator Open
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- No. 5 ranked Mount Union men's track and field team had three provisional marks for the NCAA Track & Field Championships at the Allegheny Gator Open in Meadville, Pa.
Junior Tyler Mettille (Canfield/Canfield) had a season-best mark in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 51.50 to win the event. Mettille is the defending national champion in the event and his current time is second best in the nation.
Junior Chase Swisher (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) won the 400 meters with a time of 47.87 which is the eighth best time in the nation.
Swisher also teamed with fellow junior Clay Densmore (Madison/Madison), sophomore Chad Gentry (Louisville/Louisville) and freshman Andrew Shrewsbury (Woodville/Woodmore) finished second in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 41.49 which is 16th in the nation.
The top 16 relay teams in the nation qualify for the NCAA Track and Field Championships May 22-24 at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
